That film was a piece of anthology, specifically the dialog between Walken and Hopper. Tony Scott modified the original script. Tarantino had made Slater die during the shootout, Scott wanted a happy end.

The movie I'd give an 8 or 9, but the script deserves a 10. There are some small things about the script I would have liked to see in the movie and if Clarence died in the end because in that timeline, Alabama would meet up with Mr. White from Reservoir dogs a little later on and they'd start robbing places (you know, before the cops kill White in RD)

#1 Movie Buff (10 out of 10 )
A true romantic story with the entertaining background of some true T. Scott action and words by QT (very typical, but truly awesome)!

The Duckman (10 out of 10 )
Good on you Ace! I've always loved this script, written long before Quentin did his "first" film, Reservoir Dogs The film is a gorgeous love story, but the script is just that little bit darker and that little bit more disturbing. 9 for the film. Bonus point for the original script.

Corey Coyle (10 out of 10 )
Ace film, Tarantino is the best.

Jeff Harding (10 out of 10 )
An amazing film experience. No matter how many times I see this it still captivates me. Who else could get a cast like that?

Hands down one of the best films of the 1990s.

Tarantino (10 out of 10 )
Quentin made it what it was.

Best film of all time. I even have the tattoo Alabama gets at the beginning. Are you sure Clarence was supposed to die? Tarantino, always does happy endings, well, when you can tell where his films end that is. That is why I like him, even in Hostel which I will never watch again, it had a happy ending. He's all about revenge, and 'karma' it seems, how there are no coincidences. Yes this was the greatest film ever created. I may not find my Clarence but his name is forever in ink on my body.

JDM (10 out of 10 )
The best film of all time. Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette act perfectly together, a love story with a difference to it. My number one film.

I love the script, a 10 out of 10, no doubt. But for some reason I was put off by the film. I think its because I didn't like the directing, and the fact that Tony Scott changed the ending, that moron. That probably made me not treat it with as much respect as the film should have gotten out of me. Maybe if I watch it again, I might like the movie more. The script, I've loved since the moment I started it.

Jacob (8 out of 10 )
The description and Dialogue was good at times, and excellent at best. But the Format of the Script, in my opinion, was amature. No doubt, Quentin is naturally good at Screenplays, but since he wrote this so early in his career, He wasn't experianced with the Screenplay Structure. If you read Pulp Fiction, which was co-written by another, more experianced, Screenwriter. Than you'll notice how much better the structure is, because of the help he was given from the Co-writer. He learned along the way, and he is good, no doubt. Just wasn't a fan of the structure. Movies ending is much better.

Chocopig (10 out of 10 )
Shame that Tarantino wasn't able to direct it would of been much better. This Jacob guy who gave 8 out of 10 has some misinformation about Tarantino. Pulp fiction was written by the same guy who was uncredited for True romance named Roger Avary. (They met in the video store they worked at in the 80s). And the movie Pulp fiction is all about breaking the rules of 'Screenplay Structure' that's why Pulp fiction is the best movie ever! If you're giving a 8 out of 10 because you liked tony scott's ending better just say that but don't talk about inexperienced screenplay writing on Tarantino.

Until you have actually written a screenplay your opinion means as much as a politicians promises.

I've never heard of Tony Scott but this looks like an awesome movie.

Splinter (10 out of 10 )
The "spawned by ni99ers" scene is in my opinion the best scene ever filmed. Its not only a perfect tribute to Dennis Hopper and James Gandolfini, its also one of the best written scenes in history. Also pure acting on both Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken's side. Other than that scene there are a lot of other things that make this my 3rd favorite Tarantino film. On principle I would have to say Pulp Fiction is the best, and second place goes to the very much deserving Django Unchained. True Romance on third, due to its amazing writing, and storyline. Reservoir Dogs at an honorable 4th place, for its amazing cast, music and script. Inglourious Bastards at 5th place for the perfect alternative death of Hitler, and also the multiple crinching scenes, such as the scalping scenes and also of course, the Swatstika carving. I would actually say it's a tie between Kill Bill 1 and 2, seeing they were originally one movie, but for 6th place it's still better than what I thought was a good movie, namely Natural Born Killers. The casting choices and character depiction makes the movie stand out by itself, and also the pure insanity that Mickey and Mallory share is astounding. But since this was a script that was changed so drastically by the co-writers, I don't think it's worthy of a place in the top 5. And of course a sad, last place for an otherwise impressive movie From Dusk until Dawn, which showed us a good beginning, and gave us high hopes, but when we came to the strip-club we were none other than disappointed. And also. I can't help but be very glad Tarantino is coming out with two new movies, Kill Bill 3, who stands out by itself, and everyone must wonder what the movie will be about, seeing as not only Bill died in the second movie, but also the man that played him died in real life, R.I.P. David Carradine. And of course, I was one of those shameful few who went and read through The Hateful Eight, seeing I'm such a big fan of QT, and I hope that Tarantino decides to make it even-though it was leaked. It is honestly, one of the best scripts I've ever taken the time to read through. All in all, I would say True Romance was a swell movie.

This is a fun crime action thriller full of bloody action (the extended shootout at the end is the best scene), great performances, humor, and classic moments such as the Sicilian scene, it's definitely recommended, and don't be fooled by the title, it ain't a love story.
